Snow Chains vs Snow Tires
Last year I bought a set of snow tires for my daily because I got a good deal and had a spare set of wheels. However, my daily for this winter only has one set of wheels, and it only snowed once last winter, so snow tires are not in the plans for this year. I do however have a set of snow chains, and in the likely event I want to head up to the Catskills this winter I want to be confident I won't get stranded. Despite having BMW's less than reputable AWD, would snow chains on all 4 tires give me decent snow capability? Say equivalent to all terrains on a 4x4 pickup. I know chains limit the speed I can go, and my No Season Achilles will be useless in any measurable amount of snow.
